HLA Training: Dreamweaver Workshop

HLA members are invited to participate in an upcoming training workshop conducted by Brian Richardson, HLA member and WCC faculty. He will be offering limited seating in an upcoming Dreamweaver workshop at WCC. This workshop is scheduled for: Monday and Wednesdays, February 8th, 10th, 15th, 17th
Hale A'o 102, Windward Community College, 4:30 to 7:00pm

This 10-hour workshop will start with the very basics of web design and move to more complex tools and features. Students will be shown how to set up Dreamweaver, how to create a website, and include various basic web elements.

Recommended preparation: familiarity with computers, file management, internet browsing.

HLA Executive Board Position Open: ALA Councilor

Hawaii Library Association is searching for an interested HLA member to fill the position of ALA councilor. Click here for a full description of the position.

This is a brief summary of the position:

  • Member of the HLA executive board-attendance at the monthly board meetings.
  • This is a four-year board position.
  • Attendance at the ALA annual conference (stipend is provided)
  • Attendance at the ALA mid-winter conference is preferred but not required (stipend is provided).
  • Acts as the official liaison between ALA and HLA.

Serials Cataloging Workshop scheduled

HLA's Technical Services Section is hosting an SCCTP Basic Serials Cataloging Workshop, Wednesday, March 17, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., at the BYUH Library. Eugene Dickerson, lead librarian for cataloging for the U.S. Department of State library will lead the all-day workshop.

To attend, RSVP to Keiko Okuhara by Monday, Jan. 18. Let her know if you need a ride to BYUH or would be willing to provide a ride for others.

There is no cost to attend the workshop. Lunch on your own.

House honors Ruth L. Tighe

Librarian Ruth L. Tighe of the Northern Marianas Islands was honored in a resolution adopted by the House of Representatives Jan. 5. Read more here
