Kathleen Stacey presents "The Garden of Weeding"

Kathleen Stacey from Mookini Library at UH Hilo addresses Hawaii library professionals on the importance of weeding as a critical aspect of collection management.  Weeding not only opens up space, but refreshes the collection, cleans out unwanted duplicate materials, and removes items that will not circulate either because of format or condition.  Establishing locally focused criteria for weeding is a key part of the process as well.  Kathleen further discussed the close staff coordination of library team members in cooperative weeding efforts.
